3 Ingredient Fig Jam

As the leaves turn and the air crisps with the essence of fall, there's a quintessential flavor that graces the autumn table – figs!

These luscious, dark-hued fruits are not only a visual ode to the season, but they also offer an intense natural sweetness that captures the essence of autumn.

Unlike its store-bought counterparts laden with refined sugars, this homemade fig jam boasts only the pure, unadulterated sweetness derived from fresh figs and a touch of raw orange blossom honey, making it a delightful guilt-free indulgence!

In this simple yet delightful recipe, black mission figs are transformed into a golden-hued jam that's perfect for elevating your cheese boards, enhancing charcuterie platters, or spreading on warm, toasty slices! With just three humble ingredients, you'll be able to savor the rich, velvety sweetness of figs throughout the year.

Simple Fig Jam:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint of black mission figs

  • 1 cup water

  • 2 tbsp raw honey

1. Place the fresh figs in a covered saucepot along with water. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil.

2. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a gentle simmer, ensuring the pot remains covered. Allow the figs to cook for approximately 20-25 minutes. Be sure to stir often to prevent any burning.

3. Uncover the pot and let it continue cooking on low heat for an additional 10-15 minutes. This final step will bring about a desirable, thick jam-like consistency.

4. Once at the desired thickness, stir in 2 tbsp of raw honey.

It's important to note that the jam will naturally thicken further as it cools, so don't worry if it appears slightly runny during cooking.

5. Once prepared, transfer the fig jam into an airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator, where it will last for up to 8 weeks!
